physical language for RFID tags
RFID tags are unique but visually indistinguishable. While this is acceptable for industrial purposes, a visually identifiable RFID tag has the potential to become an interactive, tactile and personal object. Cute RFID attempts to address this by creating a physical language for RFID. Taking cues from the psychology of cuteness and contemporary toy culture, each tag is translated into unique physical form.
These tags were originally designed as yearbook-like artifacts at a K-12 school, but can be annotated/traded/collected in any context. The system is capable of producing endless forms within small visual vocabulary, both 2D (stickers) and 3D (key fobs). Finally, because Cute RFID adheres tightly to a system of rules, each tag is recognizable as part of the larger network of Cute RFID objects.
